Officially founded in 1924, the Manufacturers Standardization Society (MSS) of the Valve and Fittings Industry is a non-profit technical association organized for development and improvement of industry, national and international codes and standards.
2 ASME American Society of Mechanical Engineers

4 API - American Petroleum Institute
The American Petroleum Institute (API) is the only national trade association that represents all aspects of America’s oil and natural gas industry. Our nearly 400 corporate members, from the largest major oil company to the smallest of independents, come from all segments of the industry. They are producers, refiners, suppliers, pipeline operators and marine transporters, as well as service and supply companies that support all segments of the industry.

5 ANIMA - Federation of the Italian Associations of Mechanical Industries
ANIMA - Federazione delle Associazioni Nazionali dell'Industria Meccanica varia ed Affine - è l'organizzazione industriale di categoria che in seno alla Confindustria rappresenta le aziende della meccanica varia e affine, un settore che occupa 192.000 addetti per un fatturato di oltre 41 miliardi di Euro e una quota export/fatturato del 51%.
6 AVR - Italian Valve and Fitting Manufacturers' association
AVR è l'associazione industriale di categoria che rappresenta a livello nazionale ed internazionale le aziende italiane del settore. AVR aderisce ad ANIMA (Federazione delle Associazioni Nazionali dell'Industria Meccanica varia ed Affine).
Nata nel 1952, AVR raggruppa oggi circa 80 tra le più qualificate e prestigiose aziende di un settore che in Italia conta 15.000 addetti e sviluppa un fatturato di oltre 4.200 milioni di euro di cui oltre il 60% destinato all'export.
7 BS - British Standards Institution
Since its foundation in 1901 as the Engineering Standards Committee, BSI Group has grown into a leading global independent business services organization providing standard-based solutions in more than 140 countries.
8 DIN Deutsches Institut für Normung e. V.
DIN, the German Institute for Standardization, develops norms and standards as a service to industry, the state and society as a whole. A registered non-profit association, DIN has been based in Berlin since 1917.
DIN's primary task is to work closely with its stakeholders to develop consensus-based standards that meet market requirements. Some 26,000 experts contribute their skills and experience to the standardization process.By agreement with the German Federal Government, DIN is the acknowledged national standards body that represents German interests in European and international standards organizations. Ninety percent of the standards work now carried out by DIN is international in nature.
9 ISO - International Standards for Business, Government and Society
Because "International Organization for Standardization" would have different acronyms in different languages ("IOS" in English, "OIN" in French for Organisation internationale de normalisation), its founders decided to give it also a short, all-purpose name. They chose "ISO", derived from the Greek isos, meaning "equal". Whatever the country, whatever the language, the short form of the organization's name is always ISO.
10 CENELEC Comité Européen de Normalisation Electrotechnique
CENELEC, the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization, was created in 1973 as a result of the merger of two previous European organizations: CENELCOM and CENEL. Nowadays, CENELEC is a non-profit technical organization set up under Belgian law and composed of the National Electrotechnical Committees of 31 European countries. In addition, 11 National Committees from neighbouring countries are participating in CENELEC work with an Affiliate status.
11 UNI-CEI Ente Nazionale Italiano di Unificazione Italian National Standards Body
UNI - Ente Nazionale Italiano di Unificazione - è un’associazione privata senza fine di lucro fondata nel 1921 e riconosciuta dallo Stato e dall’Unione Europea, che studia, elabora, approva e pubblica le norme tecniche volontarie - le cosiddette “norme UNI” - in tutti i settori industriali, commerciali e del terziario (tranne in quelli elettrico ed elettrotecnico).
I soci UNI sono imprese, professionisti, associazioni, enti pubblici, centri di ricerca e istituti scolastici.
UNI rappresenta l’Italia presso le organizzazioni di normazione europea (CEN) e mondiale (ISO).
12 CEI - Comitato Elettrotecnico Italiano - Italian Electrotechnical Committee
Fondato nel 1909, tra i primi Enti normatori al mondo, il CEI – Comitato Elettrotecnico Italiano, è l'Ente istituzionale riconosciuto dallo Stato Italiano e dall’Unione Europea, preposto alla normazione e all'unificazione in Italia del settore elettrotecnico, elettronico e delle telecomunicazioni.
La Legge italiana n. 186 del 1º marzo 1968 ne riconosce l'autorità stabilendo che “i materiali, le macchine, le installazioni e gli impianti elettrici ed elettronici, realizzati secondo le Norme del CEI si considerano a regola d'arte”. Le Norme tecniche pubblicate dal CEI stabiliscono i requisiti fondamentali che devono avere materiali, macchine, apparecchiature, installazioni e impianti elettrici ed elettronici per rispondere alla regola della buona tecnica, definendo le caratteristiche, le condizioni di sicurezza, di affidabilità, di qualità e i metodi di prova che garantiscono la rispondenza dei suddetti componenti alla regola dell'arte.
